Statement of Faith & Core Values
Statement of Faith
Temple Aviv Judea Believes:
-
The Bible: That the Bible, both Tanakh (Old Testament) and Brit Chadasha (New Testament), are verbally inspired and completely inerrant in the original writings as delivered to Israel, and are the supreme and final authority in Jewish faith and life. [2 Timothy 3:16
-
(G-d): In one G-d, who eternally exists in three persons: Father (Abba), Son (Ben), and Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh). [Isaiah 48:16, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 3:16-17]
-
Messiah Yeshua's Nature: That Messiah Yeshua was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, and is fully G-d and fully man. [Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:21-23]
-
Humanity and Sin: That man was created in the image of G-d; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death (separation from G-d); that all human beings are born with a sinful nature; and those who reach moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word, and deed. [Genesis 3, Romans 6:23]
-
Atonement and Salvation: That the Lord Yeshua died for our sins according to the Scriptures as the representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who trust Him as personal Savior are justified on the basis of His shed blood, and not on the basis of any works or merit of their own. [1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Ephesians 2:8-9]
-
Resurrection and Ascension: In the bodily resurrection of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life for us as High Priest and Advocate. [1 Corinthians 15, Hebrews 7:25, Psalms 110:1]
-
Messiah's Return: In ‘that blessed hope’ – the physical, pre-millennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel and King of the Universe to reign from Mt. Zion. [Zechariah 14:4, Titus 2:13]
-
Final Judgment: In the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; in the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost. [Daniel 12:1-3, Matthew 25:46]
-
The Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh): That the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Yeshua and empowers them to exercise all Biblical gifts of the Spirit. [1 Corinthians 12:13, 27-28]
-
Believers' Identity: That Jewish believers in Yeshua are called to maintain their Biblical Jewish heritage and remain part of their people Israel and the universal body of believers. Gentile believers who feel called by G-d to practice their faith within our cultural expression are received as full and equal members within our body of believers. The walls of partition have been broken down. [Acts 21:20-24, Ephesians 2:19-22]
Core Values
Temple Aviv Judea values Prayer, Proclamation, and People. These three principles (the "Three P's") reflect the ministry of Yeshua.
-
"For He [Yeshua] is our peace, who made both groups into one, and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall … that in Himself He made the two into one new man, thus establishing peace." (Eph. 2:14-15)
-
Jewish people do not convert to Christianity; they make whole their Jewish faith when they accept Yeshua Ha’Mashiach (Jesus the Jewish Messiah) as their Lord and Savior.
-
Temple Aviv Judea is a place where every person can worship Him, YHWH (the L-RD G-d), together. "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1)
-
As we worship the G-d of our Fathers, we pledge to always remember the Jewish roots of our faith. Temple Aviv Judea is "… not ashamed of the Good News, for it is the power of G-d for salvation to every one who believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Nations." (Rom. 1:16)
1. PRAYER (Tefillah)
-
We value the power of tefillah (prayer). We have the blessed assurance that if we ask, He will hear us (1 Yochanan 5:14-15).
-
In praying, we:
-
Praise Him.
-
Practice Repentance.
-
Await with an expectant heart.
-
Yield to the heart of the Father, the mind of Yeshua, and the power of the Ruach HaKodesh.
-
2. PROCLAMATION
-
Worship:
-
Temple Aviv Judea is a synagogue committed to authentic Jewish worship on the Biblical Shabbat (Sabbath). We observe all the Moedim (Feasts) of the L-rd as set forth in Vayikra (Leviticus) 23.
-
As a Messianic Jewish Fellowship, we provide worship through the doctrinally pure message of the Bible in a manner culturally relevant to the Jew.
-
Our ministry includes traditional Jewish liturgy, prayer, Messianic Jewish music, praise, Davidic dancing, creative arts, and theatrical drama, practiced in His Biblically appointed ways and times, within our Messianic Jewish identity. [Deut 6:5; Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27; Yochanan (John) 4:23-24; Lev. 23:2]
-
-
Biblical Truths:
-
Temple Aviv Judea is a "Torah-conforming" congregation committed to the Biblical truth of the covenant between YHVH and Israel as unconditional, irrevocable, and absolute.
-
We teach the relevance of both the Tanakh (Original Covenant) and Brit Chadashah (Renewed Covenant) as one continuous revelation. Biblical teaching takes precedence over tradition or human opinion.
-
We embrace the rich Hebraic roots of our faith in Yeshua the Messiah.
-
Our purpose is to present Yeshua as the final, sinless sacrificial Lamb, leading people to a saving knowledge of Him, and providing an environment where Jewish people can remain in their culture while worshipping in liberty in Messiah. [1 Timothy 2:3-6; Romans 1:16-17; 1 Cor. 7:17-20; 10:32-33]
-
-
Proclaiming The Message:
-
Temple Aviv Judea is committed to the B’sorat HaMashiach (Good News of the Messiah) by effectively and lovingly proclaiming the fullness and Jewishness of Yeshua Ha’Maschiach – to the Jew first, and also to the Nations.
-
We serve as a bridge, educating believers about their Jewish roots through Hebraic teaching and Messianic worship, working toward reconciliation between the Body of Messiah and Traditional Judaism. [Romans 11:16-24]
-
-
Administering The Ordinances:
-
The two main Biblical ordinances commanded by Yeshua are Messianic Immersion and the Shulchan Adonai (Table of the L-rd).
-
Immersion: A public sign of faith in Yeshua. [Luke 3:16; Acts 8:38–39]
-
Shulchan Adonai: An act of remembrance of Messiah Yeshua and His sacrifice, observed by His followers. [Matthew 26:26-29; 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-30]
-
3. PEOPLE
-
Community:
-
Temple Aviv Judea is committed to being a loving, supportive, encouraging, and nurturing community.
-
We help individuals grow in their relationship with Yeshua, learn Hebraic roots, and live a Messianic Judaic lifestyle.
-
We are committed to restoring the Jewish framework of the first-century believers.
-
Faithful attendance is essential to becoming part of our Mishpachah (family). As a family, we care for, serve, and meet the needs of each other, the wider body of Messiah, and the Jewish community locally and globally.
-
-
Leadership / Discipleship:
-
Temple Aviv Judea adheres to the Hebraic Biblical model of leadership from the first century. [Acts 2]
-
We value discovering and utilizing the Spiritual Gifts and talents of both Jewish and Gentile believers.
-
We invest in training and deploying members to carry out G-d’s mission.
-
Weekly Chavurah (small fellowship groups) like Bible studies, Sisterhood, and Brotherhood groups are essential for growth.
-
Through discipleship and education, individuals are inspired to use their gifts in ministry.
-
